Chanel Beauty Fall 2018: Mesmerizing Gold Highlights

Endless Gold Highlights on Eyes and Cheeks

At last, a runway look that’s easy enough to replicate at home- using gold highlights on the eyes and cheeks to create the perfectly polished, no makeup look that works for everything from the office, to evening, or even the gym. At Chanel’s Fall 2018 runway show, Tom Pecheux emphasized a natural everyday kind of beauty, achieved by lightly applying Chanel Ombre Première in Nº34 Poudre d’Or, a luminous golden shadow, around the eyes and atop the cheekbones. It’s “your-skin-but-better” taken to a more glamorous, runway ready level in one simple step by adding intense gold highlights to the eyes and cheeks. The effortless, cool-girl messy topknot created by top hairstylist Sam McKnight was inspired by how women actually want to wear their hair on the daily. His eponymous brand recently launched the Modern Hairspray Styling Mist, which was his go-to styling product throughout fashion week.

To get Tom Pecheux’s “endless golden makeup look”, correct any imperfections on the skin with the Chanel Teint Ultra Tenue Ultrawear Flawless Foundation and Chanel Le Correcteur de Chanel Longwear Colour Corrector in Abricot. Sweep the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Luminous Multi Colour Powder in Light and Deep on the cheeks and temples to bronze. Highlight the cheekbones with Chanel Ombre Première in the golden shade Nº34 Poudre d’Or. Sweep gold across the eyelids with the Chanel La Palette Essentielle in Nº160 Beige Medium and Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Natural Eyeshadow Palette in Deep, using whatever is left on the brush to further highlight the cheekbones. Define the brows with the Chanel Stylo Sourcils Waterproof brow pencil, and add a light coating of the Chanel Le Volume de Chanel mascara in Nº10 Noir. Finish off the look with the Chanel Rouge Coco Lip Blush in Nº414 Tender Rose for a subtle flush of color.

Sam McKnight’s inspiration stemmed from watching models throw their hair up in a messy bun after runway shows; He wanted an easy up-do that looked like they had done it themselves, adding a chic casual factor to the otherwise glammed up looks. “The shoes were flat, so the hair went high!” McKnight said. To get the low-key look, secure your hair into a sleek ponytail on the crown of your head, then spray the ends with Sam McKnight’s Modern Hairspray Multitask Styling mist for texture. Next, loop the ends through the ponytail holder a couple of times to create the messy bun- teasing, pulling out or pinning down pieces as necessary to create the desired effect. Accessorize with glitzy barrettes like interlocking crystal C’s, flowers, or pearls.
