Design duo Parke Lutter and Ronen Jehezkel of Parke & Ronen are firm believers that a swimsuit is just as important as the clothes you wear. Founded in 1997, their brand has been credited with being one of the first to offer men’s swimwear on the same level as menswear. And although swimwear is what they’re best known for, they also have a strong collection of laid back summer separates for plenty of fun in the sun. For Spring 2019, the landscape and culture of Malibu in a dreamy pastels ranging from yellow, orange, pink, turquoise, and blue dominated the runway.

Their Malibu mindset was channeled by the chiseled, sculpted male models wearing loose fitting cropped pants that hit just above the ankle, the shortest of short-shorts, and an abundance of easy matching sets. “It’s all about L.A., baby,” said co-designer Parke Lutter. “We threw in a little 80s vibe — we were listening to the Go-Go’s,” he added. The retro touches include bold, graphic stripes on swimwear as well as shirts and shorts, all worn with crisp white Converse high top sneakers and crew socks. Layering and versatility are key for transitioning from warm days and cool nights – striped tank tops were layered with lightweight short sleeve shirts on top or with long sleeve shirts tied around the waist.

Other fun options for layering are sleeveless hoodies, sheer and lightweight knit tops with an open weave to reveal a glimpse of skin underneath. Accessories include delicate pendants, brightly colored sunglasses, baseball caps, and even skateboards. The playful collection hints at leisure with a dash of athleticism that embodies the West Coast lifestyle of skater dudes, Muscle Beach regulars and Hollywood hunks. No matter where you live, Parke & Ronen will make you feel like you are living the California dream.
