The evolution of Missoni continues as Italy’s family of fashion celebrates 65 years. Now with Angela Missoni at the helm, her focus on an effortless wardrobe includes slinky tank dresses with matching robes and pieces that are wearable as both pajamas and day or evening wear.
An endless variety of gossamer knit dresses were on full display, along with long cardigans, knitted denim, lean trousers, long t-shirts, and kimono coats that can be mixed and matched in any number of ways.
Missoni is a global brand with household name recognition – thanks in large part to their iconic ‘Fiammato’ zigzag patterns and patchwork techniques developed by Tai and Rosita Missoni in 1953 on their knitting machinery. The Spring 2019 collection is “a primal story of gossamer textures, airy volumes and handcrafted techniques” that are airy in their elegance and hint at the faintest shadow of the body that can be seen through the wispy materials. The silky light weight knits are breezy and sheer and everything looks incredibly soft. Even the pale blue, light wash denim pants and jackets look soft enough to sleep in. A hint of sparkle from lurex yarns, beaded fishnet overlay, and luxuriously fluffy slides give the relaxed silhouettes an element of glam for evening. Missoni has become the go-to brand for Bohemian knits.
