For spring, Jonathan Anderson had the breeziest silhouettes you’ve ever seen modeled on Bohemian barefaced beauties. His clothes are not just intended to keep you cool, they move with you when you walk. Everything in his Spring 2019 collection had an element of movement, from complex draped dresses with handkerchief hems that are easy to wear, to elongated, tailored pajamas, all accented by fringe, tassels, and 60s leather headscarves. “Clothing comes to life through the idea of walking. It has to be seen in motion. That is what clothing is about,” explains Anderson.
A sleeveless bubble-gum pink collared dress featured a delicate macramé bib, while on another dress he patchworked together differing patterns of blue linen stripes to create a modern, contemporary dress. Crochet sleeves were added to striped dresses and angle-sliced tops were shown with gold-buckled shoes. Somehow, JW Anderson managed to make it all look chic. “I wanted something a bit more bohemian. A celebration of fashion. Everything with fluidity to it, and patchworked, somehow,” he explained.
Among all the handkerchief-point dresses, and the crocheted-lace-scarf shoulders, and bib-front shirt dresses with a hint of Handmaid’s Tale styling were also tall boots and a Converse collaboration. His JW Anderson x Converse creeper is the shoe everyone’s going to want this summer. The Chuck Taylor high-tops come in black or white, with a platform sole and a blue heel accent.
