Givenchy Fall 2013: Ricardo Tisci Comes Down to Earth

Riccardo Tisci’s sublimely relaxed fall collection for Givenchy felt simply down to earth and emotional, in a collection that saw the return of it’s iconic street sensibility which first propelled the designer into fashion’s big league.

Tisci drew inspiration from the gypsy culture, mixing skirts with sweatshirts into cool incarnations. Some came printed with Bambi-esque images or portraits of Romanian beauties.  while street-tough biker jackets and slim pencil skirts served as the perfect building blocks for the collection. For cool romantic evenings, those sweatshirts came in lace or sheer black chiffon worn with insouciant elegance over sheer net or printed paisley skirts.

Tisci added a cool street edge to his otherwise romantic offerings sending out a long sweatshirt printed with Disney’s Bambi layered over a sheer polka dot skirt.

He then paired an unconventional plaid flannel shirt with a western style black leather skirt  trimmed with cascading ruffles down the side. These looks radiated a street-edge, but still felt feminine.

Some of the most stunning looks came at the end in the form of a belted boyfriend sweater studded with shiny polka dots which he paired with a sheer tulle skirt embroidered at the hem with sequined roses. Next a biker jacket covered in an English rose print with quilted shoulder details was fastened and tied around the waist with zippers and worn over a seductive tulle skirt. A new and truly daring proposition for evening.

Riccardo Tisci’s latest collection for Givenchy will give his fans something new to love, highly covetable and easy to wear individual pieces for fall-winter 2013.
