Burberry Prorsum Fall 2012

Burberry Prorsum’s creative director, Christopher Bailey loved the “idea of merging worlds, the digital and physical, the country and city.” The finish hybrid was a line-up that consisted of glamorous creations in classic men’s fabrics like glen plaid, herringbone, and velvet. There was an emphasis on the hour-glass silhouette; adding puffed pockets and the use of broad peplums below the waist. Bailey took it even further by accentuating the waist by velvet belts adorned with a bow. Animal motifs were used throughout the collection from belts to umbrella handles, and even embroidered on t-shirts. The highlight of the collection was the magnificent outerwear like shapely puff jackets with enlarge gold zippers, cropped bomber jackets with shearling linings, and tweed trench coats with puffed-peplum pockets. Bailey gave a spin to the pencil skirt with peplum folds zigzagging on the front in wool and velvet. My favorites was the thick woolen lace pelpum pencil skirt and floral prints that gives a whimsical feel and feminizes the collection. At the end, Bailey envisioned a perfect crossbreed when creating his fall collection. The final result was a beautiful and diverse collection that combined the best of two worlds; English-countryside charm and London’s contemporary spirit.
