McQ by Alexander McQueen Fall 2012
by Edwardo Flores
Sarah Burton’s collection for Alexander McQueen this season took us on a journey to an enchanted forest complete with fall leaves covering the runway of her McQ Fall 2012 ready to-wear show. Adopting all the iconic McQueen silhouettes, Burton sent out nipped waists jackets and full skirts, and bold military jackets in dark hues ranging from khaki to olive tones with an unexpected touch of rouge. Two-toned wool coats and belted skirts were among some of the best looks as she immersed us further into her fantasy with a red velvet etched leaf-pattern evening coat, and a flower-embroidered 40s tulle dress. Burton had us enthralled and in the palm of her hand as she unveiled a sheer black watch tartan with velvet embroidered detail paired underneath a bustier bodice kilt-dress. It was a triumphant return to London which Alexander McQueen himself would have approved. Ultimately, the collection featured brilliantly tailored clothes, which will be available this spring in their highly anticipated new Dover Street store in London.
