John Varvatos is all about the rocker chic elegance portrayed by rock icons Bryan Ferry and David Bowie this season. His three-button suit jackets and linen trousers are treated with a crinkle effect to perfect that on-the-road lifestyle. It’s dressed up but not confining.
Long silky shirts with skinny trousers and waistcoats, and other artful jackets were tastefully torn in the front and accented with zippered pockets or hand beaded details on pockets and collars.
The show finished with a parade of double-breasted jackets with chains and Hendrix inspired Sergeant Pepper jackets accessorized with mirrored sunglasses and distressed shoes in tune with Varvatos’ rock in fashion mantra.
A strong focus on texture with foiled backed blousons, and tweeds in worsted wool helped define the lean, extravagant look of classic rockers such as David Bowie and Jimi Hendrix. Coated leather and linens give these pieces a lived in appeal.
