Christopher Kane Fall 2013: Luxurious Streak

The London fashion scene has always allow designers to express themselves with infinite abandon like no other fashion Mecca. It is here that fashion designers push the boundaries of textile innovation, masterful garment manipulation, then later wrap with boundless creativity. Among the shining examples is Christopher Kane, who’s flirtation with textures and break all the rules ethos made for an exceptional fall-winter 2013 collection.

The Scottish designer, opened his show with a sea of extravagant kilts in metallic-camouflage fabric. Scottish kilts belts were used as closures on shapely camouflage jackets, many paired with a matching kilt skirt. A camouflage two-piece dress accessorized by a leather harness belt tapped into yet, another one of fall’s hot accessories.?Kane’s collection took an unexpected turn with his ragged edge, yet luxurious velvet dresses and coats held together and at times coming apart with interlocking loops resembling oversize safety-pins. For evening Kane worked sexy party dresses, sending out a series of embellished dresses with swirling guipure lace or densely embroidered three-dimensional flowers. These dresses proved to be simply mesmerizing, especially when paired with gleaming silver collars.

Christopher Kane proves once again that he has plenty of ideas to propel his fledgling house into fashion’s big leagues.
