Track Stars

Upgrade from sweats and a hoodie to a retro-style track suit this fall, as athleisure morphs into a sports luxe hybrid. John Elliot is the perfect example of leisure wear made luxe with the gray streamlined track jacket paired with slim cut cotton pants. Following in suit, Perry Ellis and Burberry replaced button up shirts under suits and coats with track jackets, adding a layer of sporty chic.

Once again, the runway referenced The Royal Tenenbaums with Burberry’s bright red and white striped track jacket synonymous with Ben Stiller’s character in the film. Gucci presented quirky 70’s printed tracksuits with sandals, knit beanies, and huge sunglasses.

While the sporty black and white version by Rag and Bone could have been worn by any member of Run DMC. The velvet sets at Christopher Shannon were reminiscent of Tony Soprano’s mafia-off-duty look. More scuba and less casual, Neil Barrett paired a black and blue accented track jacket with cropped slacks and stark white sneakers. This mix of lazy and smart looks blended seamlessly into fall’s athletic trend. The track jacket is an essential piece for fall, and most importantly, provides an added layer of warmth for the fast approaching cold months.
