Daks Tapped into a Laid Back 60s Mood
For spring, Daks creative director Filippo Scuffi was inspired by the ‘60s, mixing elongated silhouettes with indian references and perfectly tailored pieces that are well suited for travel. The clothing has a Beatles meets sexy, world traveler vibe with kurta style tunics layered over peg trousers and hippie beads. The centuries old label is synonymous with British heritage style and elegance and is heralded for its Royal Appointment to Her Majesty The Queen. Scuffi’s focus on highly wearable classic staples comprise a practical summer wardrobe that maintains an air of sophistication. Elegantly tailored jackets worn over turtlenecks harken back to the swinging sixties along with a quintessentially British house check that was used as a starting point. The many superb fabrics were rendered in mostly monochromatic ensembles in an earthy color palette of predominantly tan, teal, red, green and brown
The deeply tanned models sported lean silhouettes in monochromatic head to toe ensembles styled with airy cotton shirts and tunics worn half buttoned with either slim or softly pleated trousers that grazed the ankle. These were styled with 19th century India Inspired accessories beaded and ribboned necklaces and large metal pendants with metal beads. Thick metal bracelets were stacked on the models’wrists and worn with strings of ribboned metal beads and open shirts exposing bare chests. There is an unmistakable sense of ease and comfort in the elongated tunics and John Lennon rounded sunglasses that give the collection a bohemian vibe. A softly tailored pinstriped summer suit with sleeves crushed to the elbow elicits a laissez-faire attitude compared to the brand’s usual deftly tailored suits. The handsome looks were accessorized with skinny belts that wrapped around the hips of low slung flat front trousers, with the ends left casually draped. Travel-ready pieces include suede safari jackets, knee-length khaki shorts with multiple wrap belts and elegant duffles and backpacks. Footwear highlights include leather trekker sandals with dark wool socks and driving leather loafers. Daks laid-back masculine pieces perfect for the sophisticated globetrotter.
