Guo Pei

“I love haute couture, because it is timeless. It is the opposite of ready-to-wear, which can rise to fame very quickly but also can be forgotten quickly. My hope is that my work be regarded as work in a museum collection is viewed, treasured like a piece of royal jewelry, a masterpiece that will be handed down from age to age. Real haute couture is eternal, tested by time, and, many years later, will provide a kind of glance back through time. A representation of lost glories and residual splendors, it will remain as an interpretation of the joy I have had in creating.”

Guo Pei is a Chinese Fashion Designer and worked with many fashion companies before her title as chief designer for Tianma (Horse of Heaven), a newly established clothing company. With the help of her extraordinary talent, Tianma rise to fame quiet quickly.

In 1995, Pei moved to Milano Fashion Company Limited, a Taiwanese-American joint venture, to work for them and at the same time on her own collections. Which she later branched out on her own and her label Meiguifang (Mayflower) was born.

She was easily named as one of China’s top ten fashion designers for her extravagant dresses, her work appeared on the closing ceremony for 2008 Beijing Olympics for the Chinese singer, Song Zuying, and many other famous celebrities from all over the world.

She received many recognitions and among them are three consecutive Gold Awards at the International Fashion and Accessories Fair (1993-95), awards for best design, best technology, five other gold awards at the International Fashion Fair in 1997 and much more.
