Vera Wang is a New York City native and a former figure skater. She held the position as a senior fashion editor at Vogue for 15 years and later a design director for Ralph Lauren.
Wang designed her own wedding dress after being disappointed from the limited selection of gowns at the time. She later on opened her own bridal boutique and launched her own label. She also designs jewelrr, lingerie and home decor.
Wang grew up in a wealthy family household on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. She enrolled in the elite Chapin School and the School of American Ballet before attending Sarah Lawrence College.
She opened her own bridal boutique with the help from her father located in the luxurious Carlyle Hotel on Madison Avenue in New York City. The boutique offered couture gowns by famed designers such as Guy Laroche, Arnold Scaasi, Carolina Herrera, and Christian Dior.
