Humberto Leon and Carol Lim are based in downtown New York and worked in retail for quiet some times before they partnered up to opened a trendsetting boutique and became creative directors at Parisian label Kenzo.
Humberto and Carol were very close friends ever since their time at the University of California, Berkeley. Their mutual taste and love for fashion as well as traveling, specifically inspired after their trip to Hong Kong that pushed them to launched their own boutique called “Opening Ceremony” in 2002, a multi-brand store in New York.
The two friends reinvigorated and brought back many trends in fashion that perfectly defined their youthfulness. They were the first to introduce brands like Acne and Topshop to American consumers.
