Thakoon Panichgul

Thakoon Panichgul, Spring 2015, S15, Fashion, Runway, Models, Collection, Asian, Top, Designer, Design, Fashionshow,

“I Like to take something that is feminine and precious and make it not so precious, or take something ordinary and glam it up. I also like working with simple shapes. I will take a sweatshirt shape, for example, and cut it into an eyelet or brocade fabric to make a cocktail dress. I see clothes as functional, and I don’t think everything has to be tricked out. I am trying to design more clothes that can be worn everyday, like the casual T-shirts I am currently working on.”

A Thai-American designer, Thakoon Panichgul was borned in Chiang Rai province of Thailand. He however, was raised in Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated from Boston University and moved to New York soon after to enter the fashion industry. His very first job was a writer for Harper’s Bazaar, from which he was an associate features editor.

His love for fashion grew when his family resided in Omaha where his favorite pastime was going to book stores to look at fashion magazines.

Thakoon was admitted into Parsons in New York for fashion design. His 14 piece collection was debuted in 2004 and was exclusively sold at Net-A-Porter. He also had collaborated with Gap and Target.
