Barbara Bui is a French designer who was born to a Vietnamese father and French mother. She has a theatre background and a Master’s degree in English literature.
In 1983 by opening a boutique called “Kabuki” on the rue de Turbigo in Paris and slowly entered the fashion world by selling her own designs.
In 1988, she opened her own label store on the rue Etienne Marcel in Paris and received extraordinary success. She now has her own stores in Paris, New York and Milan.
The combination of elegance and a rock “n” roll attitude, her collection exudes freedom and self confidence that attracts many contemporary women. Barbara is known for her clean lines and off-beat femininity that unites cultural and ethnic influences.
When she entered the stock market in 1998, she became more successful and was able to branch out her brand globally. Her empire now consists of the BB line, Barbara Bui line and Barbara Bui shoe line.
Included in her many accomplishments, she was unanimously elected as a member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Francaise et des Createurs de Mode. (the Haute Couture governing body in Paris).
