The Best Paris Trends for Spring 2014

The Paris Trends for Spring 2014 are strong and deep. Hues of indigo blue saturated the men’s runway shows in Paris. From suiting jackets to oversized shirts to drop crotch trousers, designers opted for an intensely cool color palette to set the stage for summer.

Maison Martin Margiela opened his runway show with his trademark deconstructivist look, dressing models in inside-out jackets. Underneath the jacket, a sheer indigo shirt is tucked into a bartender inspired apron that is worn belted around waist. The late night concert look is completed with coated waxed jeans and lace up leather boots. The inkiness of the blue adds to the masculine edge of this collection.

Black-tie on the beach? That’s what Kris Van Assche envisioned when he sent his models down the runway in clean cut jackets and really short shorts. The tailored shorts in varying lengths are Van Assche’s take on excellently tailored swim trunks. The mix of formal and informal pieces are perfect for any summer soiree, but each piece can also stand on its own. The simplicity of this leather three-button suit jacket does not undermine its sheer elegance.

Out with the older, in with the younger. John Galliano’s Spring 2014 line focused on attracting a new younger set to the brand. The oversized, long T-shirts introduced a new silhouette in Paris. A deliberately shorter cut pant helps to accentuate the patent navy creeper shoes with heavy lug soles.

Haider Ackermann’s menswear debut was just dreamy. The extravagant fabrics such as shiny jacquards and satins transported the audience to a land of luxury and opulence. Ackermann adorned his inked up models in baggy dropped-crotch trousers, silky scarves, and lavish overcoats. Here the model wears slim lilac duchesse satin trousers cropped just above the ankle. The dusty blue overcoat and indigo waistcoat add to the majestic allure. The silky scarf slung around the model’s neck give him Ackermann’s signature louche touch.

The Spring 2014 Hermes show was effortlessly luxurious. Nichanian’s designs thrive on understated beauty, and here a blue striped cabana shirt and leather sandals make this look perfect for a trip to the islands. Veronique Nichanian combines classic Hermes prints with a cool palette of blues, greens, and whites for this resort wear collection.

Valentino’s super minimalistic looks are perfect for the working man. These suiting options complete with reflective strips sewn into the back of the knees make these suits practical for the urban commuter. Here the jacket’s fasteners are concealed and subtle accents of blue leather plackets adhere to the shoulders and pockets. The heat bonded poplin and silk twill fabric add a dressier finesse making these looks more versatile and transitio
