Designers had a fascination for the stars and the vast space above our planet taking inspirational cues from Star-Trek, Gattaca and all things Star Wars for fall 2013. At Mugler, Nicola Formichetti sent out a futuristic commanding officer sporting full starship regalia in a head-to-toe dove gray uniform with an iconic emblem embroidered onto the suit. Dior’s galactic starship warrior sported a sleek navy blue, slim fitting suit with zippers replacing the buttons on the jacket, printed with an oversized emblem of a red geometric seal. Kenzo’s powder-blue hooded parka rendered in a neoprene super-hero silhouette is enormous on top with rounded shoulders with slim tapered trousers on the bottom. The future is now. No time like the present to start dressing like your own master of the universe.
