Andrew Gn’s Regal Temptress Exudes Feminine Power

Andrew Gn opened his collection with bold graphic designs outlined in white embroidery on a canvas of shift denim dresses.  The visible, decorative white stitching was used in place of surface textures or other fabrics for an effect that can only be described as très, tres chic. The silhouettes appear ultra modern, yet the detailed patterns seem to whisper back to an ancient Chinese culture.  He added graphic elements to the winged shoulder panels of a blue denim dress that was amongst one of the stand out pieces in the collection.

As the show transitioned from a predominantly denim theme into daywear separates, the accents became more distinctive. The clothes seemed to call out to the liberated woman – A world traveler who draws power from her tribal ancestral roots. This can be seen in the recurring theme of primitive geometric motifs used on belted dresses, flowing skirts and trousers.  Gn’s strong lineup of daywear options with sharp silhouettes looked equal parts powerful and feminine. These were followed by elegant flower maidens adorned in butterfly prints that burst onto the catwalk in splashes of yellow, orange, blue and pale mint green. The delicate butterfly embroideries added and extra dose of elegance and luster to his creations without looking dated or old fashioned.

For evening, he covered his gowns in flora and fauna that echoed the patterns of an antique Chinese porcelain bowl in the designer’s own personal collection. The unique beauty of Gn’s collection cannot be praised enough.  It leaves you with an overwhelming sense of a youthful feminine spirit, and a longing for a simpler time.
