Supersize Me at Stella McCartney Spring 2013

There’s an undeniable athletic energy running through Stella McCartney’s s spring-summer 2013 collection. Perhaps, its the sporty dresses, warm-up jackets, or the oversize volume of sweaters veiled in organza. “It’s a conversation between a man and woman, between boldness and fragility,” stated Stella McCartney.
McCartney’s recent 2012 collaboration with the British Olympic team was evident in her athletic inspired dresses. Among the Olympic inspired looks was a white sheath dress with an circular orange panel on one side, worn underneath a sheer silk organza sweatshirt and additional dresses inset with either a black or green silk pleated elliptical circles. McCartney opted for lighter-than-air fabrics like cotton, silk, and organza that served as a layering device for the collection. Another model sported a strapless black and white leopard print jumpsuit with a dropped-crotch and over-sized pockets paired with olive green wedge sandal and matching leopard clutch.
Stella McCartney later showed a number of tailored pieces, including dresses and skirts with cut away fronts in cotton twill. Suiting came in a bold and daring new silhouette, an oversized white or black boxy-cut jacket with structured shoulders over understated soft fluid trousers cropped just above the ankle and belted low in the back to create a blouson effect.
To close the show, McCartney sent out a sheer organza dress with bi-sected electric blue pleated insets in the front. Another sleeveless dress in multi-colored brush stroke print featured a curved sheer inset running diagonally across the body. equally striking and perfect for day or night.
Stella McCartney may be rock royalty, but the clothes she sent down the runway seem effortlessly elegant, approachable, and wearable, which makes them a perfect hit for summer.
