Designer Raun LaRose’s Spring 2018 collection was full of dramatic silhouettes that look ultra modern and somewhat futuristic. Many of LaRose’s creative and conceptual pieces for his collection entitled “System Down” are comprised of what the designers refers to as Wall Street-in-the-80s with iconic lo-fi graphic elements of emerging new technologies from the era. LaRose collaborated with Portuguese artist José Cunha on the graphic design elements that resemble 1980s error messages from computer crashes. The serenely elegant silhouettes were rendered in a strict color palette consisting of silver, white, black and blue, and contrasted with the occasional pop of color and print. Elegant wide cropped trousers were seen in denim, Glenplaid wool, and a silver liquid-like material. The pieces were all carefully styled with shoulder baring sweaters that hung off the body or shown with flared tailored shorts and sheer knee-high socks. All photos by Andy Rolfes.
