Maison Margiela’s Futuristic Galactic Beauty by Pat McGrath

Makeup artist Pat Mcgrath set off a glitter bomb backstage at Maison Margiela’s Spring 2017 show, where the models were made up to look like beautiful, intergalactic aliens. The high-shine skin, egg–shaped swim caps, and fake pointy ears added to the futuristic vibe. McGrath further heightened the galactic theme by using a metallic holographic silver on the models brows and lips,  and amped up neon pastels on eyes. The multi-colored winged eye makeup was framed by yellow painted brows and orange lids, then painted with blue and purple lined wings that encircled the eye. In one of the most dramatic looks she created for the show, blue pastel winged eye makeup was extended all the way to the temples, and sparkled  with iridescent glitter. Otherwise minimal makeup was applied to the face and lips, with the focus remaining soley on the eyes or on the lips.  Some of the models sported glitter lipstick in deep cobalt blue, baby blue, lavender and holographic silver. Other styling accessories that combined to make the look so iconic, include eye-catching crystal earpieces, thick yellow plastic goggles and old-school secretary headsets which added to the colorful effect.

Pat McGrath has been hinting about the release of a  new Pat McGrath Labs 005 Kit on twitter. McGrath is now making the looks she creates for the runway accessible to the masses with her daring   Pat McGrath Labs beauty kits. Perhaps these looks are a sneak peek at a new universal glitter palette she plans to release soon.
