Marc Jacobs Beauty Fall 2016: Punk In-Your-Face Make-Up

Marc Jacobs Punk Inspired Beauty

Marc Jacobs is a master at breaking the rules, and the punk in your face theatrical makeup at his fall show was the perfect accompaniment to his big cape silhouettes and sweeping black gowns. Inspired by the 80s punk scene, François Nars created six gothic smokey eye looks outlined entirely in black eyeliner. The dramatic looks reminiscent of Alice Cooper, Beetle Juice and various night club performers set the mood.  It is very New York, very underground. “Some have dark eyes with very strong liner and no lips. Not much foundation, a little bit shiny and not like a commercial cosmetic look. We like to stay away from anything that’s too perfect, like foundation and lipstick.  All the eyebrows are gone because it gives you a blank canvas to work with, so you can really restructure the whole face and make the eyelids really big…it just changes the whole face,”  said Nars. This blank canvas dramatizes the artful monochromatic eyes and stark black lips, resulting in the ultimate goth beauty.

Minorque Kohliner
Nars says, “We like to be away from anything that’s too perfect, like foundation and lipstick,” and kohl liner over lip liner gives a slightly smudged finish without looking perfect.

Triple X Lip Gloss
A moisturizing lip gloss for high shine and long lasting wear to add dimension to finish off the dark lips.

Hair:

Redken Hard Wear 16

Nails:

Marc Jacobs Beauty Blacquer Nail Polish
Jin Soon applied the Marc Jacobs beauty nail color “Blaquer,” and Jin Soon stated, “Marc really likes to have it super shiny, so on top of this black color we are using a high shine top coat called Shiny,” to finish off the look. Marc also specified that, “‘Jin! Short nails, short nails!’ Because you don’t want to have dagger nails with this one, otherwise it becomes too much, so short nails and high shine will make you more sophisticated.’”
