London served up an encore performance of the athleisure trend with sporty separates in stripes and solids for spring summer 2015. The trend has preoccupied much of menswear around the globe for the past few seasons, but London designers took it a step further and focused on a leaner and more minimal urban inspired uniform. This new found acceptance of comfy loungewear signals the arrival of the modern day “leisure suit.”

Apparently, men now want to look handsomely chic both in and outside of the gym. Slimly tailored jogging pants, deconstructed bomber jackets and double zippered tops have now become the quintessential must-haves for spring. This level of relaxed chic is accomplished using casual knits, mixed with contrasting fitted tops or oversized bottoms with relaxed lines in matching neutral tone-on-tone colors or varying shades of grey.

Incorporating a neutral shade of green with a heathered grey sweatshirt-and-short set, Christopher Raeburn’s version suggests a hint of military inspiration. Jonathan Saunders also put forth a similarly strong ensemble featuring a hooded taupe jacket with a silver iridescent panel across the front and lustrous grey shorts to match. These looks pair easily with your favorite new cross trainers.

JW Anderson’s woven azure blue striped polo and jogger pant are perfect for a post workout meeting or rendezvous. If you prefer something more edgy, look no further than Moschino’s black deconstructed bomber with matching drawstring sweatpants. A fresh crop of jackets in all weights and sizes are now leaner, more functional, and adaptable to a variety of different looks.

There are a number of great transitional pieces that work well with the newly deconstructed athleisure staples. Richard Nicoll provides the perfect update to the original track jacket by casting the original in a luminous silver shell with double zippered detail. In a similar vein, Lou Dalton reconstructs the hooded rain anorak in a vibrant red rose hue, featuring an arm sleeve pocket for stashing away essential items. Paul Smith offers a chic variation of the trend with an indigo one-button tartan blazer over a blue cotton shirt and sweatpants.

Tom Ford completes the wide array of offerings with the season’s most luxurious version, that of a dark grey double zippered sweater worn with tonal zebra print shorts.
