Kris Van Assche Spring 2013: Core Basics

By Edwardo Flores for Global Fashion News
Kris Van Assche used wardrobe basics as the epicenter of his men’s spring-summer 2013 collection. The designer insisted on dressing down the contemporary mans wardrobe, and to ultimately de-formalize menswear. No fuss or gimmicks here, but rather a plethora of wardrobe basics like the humble T-shirt, trousers, shorts, denim and suits. All in all, he presented a highly wearable collection made to be incorporated as every day wear.

Austere colors ranging from pristine white to black with pops of dove gray, powder blue, and rich burgundy, made-up the collection’s color palette. While, the silhouette presented was slightly slim-fitting and easy on the model’s body for movement.

Kris Van Assche collaborated with Levi’s to produced superb raw denim for his back to basics collection. The simplest ensembles looked the best, such as a white collar shirt with double sleeves paired with tailored pleated shorts or raw denim jeans worn with a matching sleeveless vest over a white T-shirt.

The classic suit was also updated for spring 2013…The jacket and vest became shorter, and came just below the waist. While, the trousers were extra slim fitting and cropped or folded at the ankle. The results yielded a much leaner and athletic silhouette.

Kris Van Assche minimalist basics managed to captivate the imagination with it’s wearability.
