Dubbed the “People’s Designer” by Vlad Turin in his 2015 documentary, Jeremy Scott hails from humble roots. Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Scott quickly made a beeline for the bright lights of New York City where he attended the Pratt Institute for Fashion in Brooklyn, New York. In September 1997, Scott showed his first collection in Paris, earning him a following that took him and his business to Los Angeles. Scott relies on the support of celebrities who love his eccentric style, like Nikki Minaj, Katy Perry, and Miley Cyrus, whose personalities  are a perfect fit for Scott’s neon-bright designs. In 2008, Jeremy Scott teamed up with Adidas to release a line of shoes and athletic wear that quickly gained popularity with street style stars and hip hop personalities. In 2013 after a decade of helming his own brand, Jeremy Scott was selected as creative director for the Italian label Moschino.

Scott drew on a variety of pop culture references to instill humor and youth to the decades old fashion house founded by ” Enfant Terrible” Franco Moschino. He famously tweaked the McDonalds, Barbie, and Looney Tunes logos to represent Moschino.  His fresh take on each collection has been well received by the press and an instant hit at the retail level. “My story is the American dream, a hundred percent,” says Jeremy Scott. His story of farm-living in Kansas to top Italian label has inspired other young designers. More recently, Scott drew ire from the press for his “Spring 2017 capsule collection” which featured pill shaped purses and clutches made from prescription bottles. And although Scott came under fire for his designs that promote prescription abuse, this did not stop celebrities and collectors from buying his clothes.  His followers are more than happy  to flaunt prescribed dosages of Moschino on their phone cases and high fashion t-shirts.
