As a crowd of guests gathered outside the Honourable Artillery Company, a garden party was taking place inside as Hackett’s Spring 2015 mens show got underway. Inside the venue, the crew was testing lighting and everything was being thoroughly checked. While backstage an onslaught of young men were getting groomed to the nines and emerged on the green as the sleekest gentlemen in the house.

Founder Jeremy Hackett no.1 rule for living a better life is “ You can’t control the wind, but you can adjust the sail.” He referred to his latest collection as “Gentlemen’s Sport,” and it delivered on several fronts. Hackett emphasized a more relaxed, sophistication for spring with jaunty striped jackets in unusual combinations, mixing patterns and colors with modern straight-cut trousers in vibrant shades of cherry red, electric orange and kelly green. He reinterpreted all the modern wardrobe essentials; safari jackets, blazers, Bermuda shorts, overcoats, and double-breasted jackets paying a tribute to the British obsession with sporting events. Gentleman who favor Isaia, Armani, or Ermenegildo Zegna and are familiar with the cut of a finely tailored sports jacket will appreciate the versatility and masculine clean lines of Hackett’s heritage hourglass dinner jacket. The clothes are aimed squarely at “a gentleman who’s in control.”

An alumni of Savile Row, Hackett’s razor sharp jackets seemed destined for an outing on the French Riviera, while the double breasted jackets featured a new sportier, shorter length. The lineup also included pinstriped tailored suits, bombers and rain jackets and fresh combinations of polo-neck pullovers and shirting in thrilling colour combinations.

Speaking of thrills racing is very much a part of the English DNA, and Jeremy Hackett is an avid enthusiast. Hackett London is the official clothier of the Williams-Martini Racing team, part of the Williams-Mercedes F1 Racing team. Hackett referenced his passion for racing in the form of driving shoes, which the models sported, along with luxe weekender bags. With his latest SS 2015 collection Jeremy Hackett makes us long for the finer things in life and the leisure time that goes with it.. His young, sporting gentlemen may have nothing to lose financially, but to lose the thrill of adventure? Unforgivable.
