Fendi Spring 2017: Poolside Chic

Fendi’s Spring 2017 is the Pool Party of The Season

Fendi’s set the stage for their spring menswear show with fake AstroTurf and a Fendi branded olympic sized swimming pool. Models walked the periphery of the elongated pool wearing slides, billowing silk pants and botanical print blousons lugging weekender bags and totes in a striped ticking pattern that Fendi revived from the Seventies. This was a carefree, summer collection that echoed the playful, leisurely style of Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein in the 50s. Both of whom, sported terrycloth shorts while on vacation. Those same style of shorts were shown with striped polo shirts, floral and leaf printed silk pajama tops. Trousers meanwhile, went went way oversized and billowed in the wind from the many fans lining the room and were worn under zig zag-printed, light summer coats or belted terry cloth robes with floral-embroidery. There were handsome leather pool slides, bucket hats, and silk shirts printed with mosaic tile trims. This season saw the pool slide upgraded with playful treatments. Loafers also got an update and were reworked into slip-on mules. While low-top sneakers another huge trend for spring, were revamped with cutouts in the shape of squiggles and featured laces tied around the ankles “Roman Style.”  Fendi also debuted its first men’s eyewear collection in collaboration with Safilo, including a series of round retro-inspired shades which are making a comeback for spring.
