Etro Fall 2013: Silk Road

By Edwardo Flores for Global Fashion News.
The spirit of Etro’s fall 2013 collection is rooted deep in the heart of the Himalayas, where Kean Etro cast his models as modern day descendants of Genghis Khan. A bohemian rough hewn silk road theme ran throughout the collection rendered in luscious fabrics like rich velvet, merino wool, silk tapestries and a bevy of super soft cashmere knits. Etro is all about color and pattern with a focus on soft sensual fabrics in electrifying ethnic prints are the hallmark of this Italian luxury brand.
Kean Etro’s vivid color display and exotic ethic prints appeared more intense than ever ranging from deep burgundy to dark green, royal purple to bright yellow with rust brown, dove gray and midnight black serving as the base. Among Etro’s striking daywear looks stood an elongated car coat done in a traditional herringbone base that is barely visible beneath a rich mandala print. He paired the quintessential tapestry coat with skinny brown and gold paisley trousers and a beige cable knit sweater anchored by houndstooth check slippers and a long green knotted scarf. Next up a radiant pumpkin-orange turtleneck is paired with a green psychedelic embroidered jacket worn over dove gray trousers. Kean Etro makes it all look so effortlessly cool and a pleasure to get dressed.
For evening Etro sent out sleek and elegant evening suits fit for a dandy. A voluminous velvet scarf is wrapped around the shoulders of a multi-colored dark velvet suit worn with a burgundy cashmere turtleneck. Fantastical looks also crept in. Imagine a black and silver brocade suit worn with a sheer burntout velvet paisley shirt and shaggy après-ski boots, all layered beneath a oversized white sheepskin coat. Now, that’s how you make a statement when you walk into a room.
The unapologetic opulence of Etro’s fall 2013 collection is what makes it so attractive and fitting for a bohemian man of taste. Where else can you find exquisite individual wardrobe pieces that you will love and treasure forever?
