Dolce & Gabbana Revisits Archives for Spring 2019 Men’s Collection
For spring, Dolce and Gabbana presented D & G’s greatest hits. Three decades of shifting menswear through their own particular lens, featuring an amalgam of 144 fashion fashion looks. Quite literally, their runway show was an extensive crash course in all things Dolce & Gabbana. On the runway remained a few of D&G’s millennial kings; Cameron Dallas, Elias Becker, Wizkid, Nash Grier, Nam Joo Hyuk, and Maharaja Padmanabh Singh. But to complete the lesson were Naomi, Marpessa, and Italian actress Monica Bellucci.
Model Cameron Dallas opened the show in a tailored suit emblazoned with gold flourishes and styled with a jeweled brooch and crown to match. Rich ornate influences were seen throughout the show and recall the brand’s earliest collections. The designers also combined a heavy streetwear influence with elegant tailoring to deliver a spectacular selection of the brands “DNA Evolution.” Their denim offerings were updated with velvet and jacquards, in addition to regal prints taken directly from Sicilian Byzantine frescoes. Many of the looks featured eye catching jewels, gold charms, among other blingy ornamentation on many of the so-called dressed down athelsiure silhouettes. After all, it’s the details that truly separate D&G from the rest of the pack. One thing is clear, Dolce and Gabbana is no longer bothered with seasonal reinvention, instead they choose to focus on continuity and longevity. Dolce & Gabbana’s yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
“Now it’s time to turn a new page,” said Domenico Dolce. “We’ve been exploring sportswear, the new attitude, and learning a lot.”
