Style hounds must rock a certain do and this summer men are diving into new hairstyles that are all the rage in Hollywood and the streets alike.  2015 has ushered in a new era of mens style tribes that appear as niche or role specific haircuts with many rising to the top due to pop celebrities or sheer nostalgia.

All of the sudden men recognize the need for a good cut when they’re inundated with posh images of David Beckham or Brad Pitt, who by the way are sporting a clean cut ‘Gentleman Slickback.”

Care to guess why the man-bun became so popular, along with the trendy “High & Tight” haircut?  It’s simple, because girls were all over men wearing these styles professing their love and lust for the look.  Here we break down the best looks for men this summer.  Are you ready to make the cut?

“Some of the worst mistakes in my life were haircuts” – Jim Morrison.

1. The Buzz Cut (see more)

The quintessential masculine haircut has always been a trending style amongst men who want simplicity and want a summer-ready cut.  It’s the suitable-for-everyone and hassle-free haircut that can be adapted to anyone by manipulating the length and grade of razor used.  Before taking the plunge, have an Honest-to-God conversation with your barber to make sure it is going to enhance your looks, not ruin them. You can choose this style with slightly more length on top, a la the French Crop, and opt for a slight side fade, which produces a conspicuous, “I woke up like this” appearance that feels nostalgic, yet contemporary.

2. The Fringe (see more)

If you like to run your fingers through your hair or have women do the honor for you, then consider the style known as “The Fringe.” Yes, we know wearing your hair forward is frowned upon unless you’re a teenager, but the look was seen all over the fall 2015 runways and is proof of this enormously popular trend.  Should anyone give you grief, tell them you’re ahead of the trends which you will be seeing a lot more of come fall.  The downside to “The Fringe” is that it is not weather friendly.  During the hot days of summer, it can make you feel as if you’re wearing a thick toupee over your head depending upon on its length and thickness.  However, a little prep goes a long way in making this hairstyle work for summer. Feel free to ask your stylist to remove some of the weight to make it more appropriate for the hotter months ahead.

3. Slick Back (see more)

You’re all about class and meant to shine.  Is there any better style than a perfectly groomed Slick Back? This style is always in and summer-appropriate.  When trimmed and styled properly, “The Slick Back” keeps all of your hair off your face, and with a bit of product (read our selects) it will also stay in place and look polished all day.  Leave a good deal of length through the top to allow you to slick back the hair and opt for a reasonably tight fade around the sides and back to provide good contrast. Excess thickness and weight can be cut with thinning scissors to make it easier to manipulate. This particular hairstyle is meant to have a wet, high shine look,  but you can also alter how you choose to wear it.  It’s your head after all.

4. The Relaxed Wave (see more)

This hairstyle oozes a cool, romantic aloofness. However, heat and humidity are sworn enemies of this style and can create hair unruliness, i.e. for men with longer hair.  Take it easy with the styling products, and don’t over-do it.  This style is fickle, you can lose the shape and desired effect as easily as you’ve gained it.  Thus it’s best to keep it simple, give a natural, loose quiff (on-trend for 2015) or style your hair straight back so that it’s kept off your face (DO NOT COMB IT). Your welcome.

5. The Disconnected Sides for Afro-Hair (see more)

Your barber isn’t a specialist unless he knows how to make his way through the fro.  This contemporary style should not be overly short,  but is meant to look edgy and sleek. The trick is all in the clippers and the shade fade as it graduates around the head.  Adjustments can be made to the top and edges to make it look casual or sculpted.  We’re all different, so to each his own!

6. Angular Fringe (see more)

The “OMFG I gotta have it” hairstyle for guys with a round face. The Angled Fringe was the preferred look on the runway for spring summer 2015.  It is easily achieved by tapering the sides and maintaining an angular asymmetrical top layer.  Style with wax pomade or forte spray at your discretion.

7. Brushed up (see more)

This hairstyle is a bit longer, but keeps the hair on the sides and in the back shorter than what’s on top. It is a classic that can be adapted to even short hair.  Quick and easy to style with some wax or gel, this look goes with any style for any occasion.

8. Side Part Pompadour (see more)

“The Pompadour” totally made a comeback this year courtesy of Sam Smith. Relentlessly seen throughout history due to the fact that it can be easily molded, lengthened, and finished. This is a fastidious style that’s just as regal, as it is product dependent.

9. Short Back and Sides (see more)

The short and back layers are what define this quiet look along with the long, textured layer on top and a big sweep over the head.  It is a great look for men who’d like to add a touch of old school flash to their style. Gotta dig it.

10. The Side Part (see more)

The sexy side part works for men with hair long enough hair to comb over to either side and is the perfect style for when you don’t want to put a lot of time and effort into it, but you do want your hair to look fantastic.  This look can be achieved in a few minutes, and is virtually hassle free.  Just part the hair on the side of your head, and sweep it over and voilá.  Whether it’s the left or right part.  We’ll leave that to your discretion.

11. Undercut Variation (see more)

Undercuts are poised to be the “it” style for 2015. There are so many different fades, variations, finishes, and styles the possibilities are endless.  There are 5 popular variations of the undercut, classic undercut, layered undercut, slicked back undercut, side swept undercut and the puffy undercut.
