Andrew Gn’s Aristocratic Noble Bohemians

Held in the minimalist Palais de Tokyo, Andrew Gn’s Fall 2015 collection progressed through a series of different moods from a young bohemian blue blood to regal tempress. Taking inspiration from an ancestral palazzo, Andrew Gn played with the idea of re-working heirloom textiles into a nuclear winter wardrobe. His heritage version of ancient tapestries and carpets were rendered into tempting tasseled skirts, youthful shifts and the season’s most remarkable winter coats.

He opened the show with a gray flannel cape dress detailed with braided suede passementerie and a full Mongolian lamb collar. This was followed by cocoon shaped coats draped over silk satin sheaths, or worn with velvet-patchwork mohair opera style coats. Gn’s colorful assemblage mixes passementerie, hand-knotted fringe trim on sleeves and hems, Mongolian fur trim, and both organza and sequined plume shoulder capes made to look like feathers. Floral beading and white callas appliqued on a mono-sleeved, black column gown illuminated a serene beauty. Traditional kilim and tapestry patterns in jewel or dark tones also featured heavily in the collection.

Gn, shows two runway collections per year and creates two additional collections – all handmade in Parisian workshops.  His clothes are full of bright floral patterns embellished with flowers, embroidery and 3D sequin details.  Like Andrew Gn himself, his woman is unconventional, fun and approachable, while being international. Mixing a resplendent selection of fabrics, Gn infuses a playful attitude to deliver an exquisite take on Bohemia.
