Alexander Wang crowns Azealia Banks The New Queen B. of rap!

Now, more than ever, relationships between the fashion and music world are growing strong. Each season designers pick-out their favorite fashion muses, not just models, but music artists as well. Alexander Wang’s date to this year’s Costume Institute Gala was Azealia Banks who wore a custom Alexander Wang outfit and shoes.  

Nicki Minaj was suppose to perform at the MET Ball, but Azealia Banks won out. Azealia Banks is a 20-year-old, with sharp tongued lyrics and underground New York beats as shown in her hit song “212”. Yet in interviews Azealia is a humble and soulful compared to fellow LaGuardia alumni Nicki Minaj, who is more concern about her image and style than anything else.

Alexander Wang’s Spring 2012 collection was dominated by all manner of modern technical sportswear influenced by skate boarding, motorcross and NASCAR racing, completing the look with matching head gear.

His sporty and utilitarian silk printed parachute dresses and separates with zippered fronts and oversize cargo pockets radiate a hot, sexy urbanity. While his leather outerwear resembled a uniform, which is sure to be popular among his throng of 20 something fans. Not to be outdone by outerwear were the accessories, cross-body golf bag-sized weekenders (backpacks) and oversized matching floral print BMX helmets were enviable, as the high heeled sneakers.
