What to Wear: The Best Milan Trends for Spring 2014 – Blue Indigo

Spring 2014 - Blue Indigo

Get ready to enter your blue period, because Indigo is the current menswear’s obsession for spring summer 2014. From blue scarves to tone on tone blue, simply layer multiple shades of the color together in one single look to get the most impact. In both menswear and woman’s fashion, intense color has been a constant for spring, encompassing bold color and richly saturated patterns.

One designer who has totally embraced the mood is Giorgio Armani. Armani softened the rigid structure of men’s suits, altering the office uniform forever. While Calvin Klein’s streamlined futurism and utilitarian precision paired narrow bonded-wool pants with high performance fencing gear. Versace’s gladiator sandals were a hit, especially when worn with an electric blue resort jacket and silk trousers. Salvatore Ferragamo offered up a hefty dose of sporty, casual, luxe at it’s finest. Ferragamo’s creative director, Massimiliano Giornetti, cleared up any confusion backstage after the show. He’d been thinking, he said, of sportsmen—”not any specific idea of sport, but the idea, the vibration of the sportsman.” Missoni continues to draw inspiration from the family’s artisanal knitwear using indigo tie dye textiles from Benin, where shades of indigo, ink and midnight blue amalgamate to create the new Missoni Blue. Missoni’s continuing collaboration with Jean Machine resulted in a relaxed pleated pant, denim jacket and a five pocket jean all created from a special loom knit fabric.
