Louis Vuitton Spring Mens Runway Show

The globe trotting creative director of Louis Vuitton menswear, Kim Jones took us on a delightful trip to Rajasthan, India. The set design for his spring show came from the Jantar Mantar Astrological Observatory Gardens which hail from the early 18th century.

Partially inspired by the rich vibrant colors of India and the world of aviation, the collection featured bold coats, structured pants, and a treasure trove of luxe bags, belts and stunning eyeglasses. While last season’s collection was about looking down at the earth from above, this time we’ve looking up at the stars,” said Jones.” Strong suits were also important and were rendered in fine featherweight wools with peaked lapels and sleek flat-front trousers with a defined high-waisted cut.

The suits all seemed to have a modern, jet-set CEO executive feel to them and were resplendent with fitted turtlenecks worn underneath. A nod to the 70’s was apparent in the aviator-inspired bombers, as well as the straight cut khakis and casual wear trousers. All of the looks were paired with LV kicks in neutral hues such as cognac brown, navy blue and white. While some of the cases carried by the models opened to reveal gentleman’s essentials, including a portable writing desk, one model even carried a guitar case lined in sheepskin.

Beauty is all in the eye of the beholder, and the eyewear sported at the Louis Vuitton spring summer show were some of the most coveted accessories of the season. The models wore a newly introduced style made by LV’s eyewear division called “Aman” resembling retro sunglasses featuring a crossed front bridge (popularized by the early sunglass collection of Tom Ford) with a dual set of lenses. The collection had luxury written all over it. Money may not be able to buy you love, but it can buy plenty of world-traveled Louie.
