The Paris-based collective known as Vetements grew out of a desire to escape the continual rebranding and reinvention of the fashion cycle. Focusing on impactful pieces with immediate appeal rather than thematic seasonal collections. Head designer Demna Gvasalia, his brother Guram and other collective members with ties to Maison Margiela, Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga, Céline, and Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Arts infuse Vetements with inventive contemporary touches and clever deconstruction that speaks to the generation of their contemporaries.
