The New Trends in Men’s Fashion Spring 2013

Men’s fashion week kicked off with a bang this past week with designers Lou Dalton, Sibling, Christopher Raeburn and Sir Paul Smith from London followed by Versace, Burberry Prorsum and Canali in Milan on the weekend. Creativity and outrageous antics are the hot ticket if you want to be noticed. Some of the trends we have seen so far for Mens Spring/Summer 2013 are captivating and provocative. A few that caught our eye include sheer fabrics, metallics and colorful prints.

MAN / Emporio Armani / Meadham Kirchhoff

JW Anderson / Versace / MAN

For over four seasons, sheer has been a major trend in womenswear, now we’re beginning to see it in menswear. Sheer sleeves, shirts, pants and even one piece manzies have been all the rage on the catwalk this season. A flash back to Marc Jacobs black lace shirt dress from the Met Gala was what went through my mind when I saw JW Anderson lace jumpsuit appear on the runway. Lets see what Paris has in store for us, will they put a stop to this over exposure or encourage it?

Canali / Burberry Prorsum

Versace / Ermenegildo Zegna

Metallics have always been popular in womenswear, but now we are seeing metallics for men saturated in bright bold colors. Everyone is used to seeing gold, silver, and bronze but what about metallic blues and pinks? Burberry Prorsum, Ermenegildo Zegna and Canali are great example’s of the new colorful metallics.

Sibling / Moschino

Katie Ear / Versace

Prints large, small and even abstract prints have been in use for decades, but what about astonishing prints? Prints that are so out of the ordinary they immediately catch your eye. For Mens Fashion Week in both London and Milan we have seen floral prints both big and small, Moschino’s detergent logos, Katie Eary’s aquatic theme with matching skateboard and even porcelain graphics by Sibling.

We have seen a lot of beautiful clothes so far, with one more week to go. Can’t wait to see what the Paris designers have in store for us. What about you?
