Paul Smith’s 2016 men’s show was flush with lots of bold colors. The collection seemed to gravitate towards a clean, classic estetic for its spring-summer 2016 collection. In addition to the use of classic suiting styles from previous decades like the 1970’s and 80’s the brand added relaxed trouser silhouettes for a bold menswear statement. Mixing tamed traditional suiting with exuberant pops of color brought fourth a refreshing twist to a tried and true method that can only be described as fantastic and bright.

Music played a fundamental role Paul Smith’s men’s show, with a frenetic soundtrack drawn from Paul’s record collection.

The recent spring/summer men’s show was a celebration of independent thought and creativity. This mood spilt over into the show soundtrack, where true originals such as Ian Dury, The Kinks and Jimi Hendrix lent their sense of unconventional creativity to the occasion. With over 20 tracks crammed into just over 8 minutes of continuous music, the soundtrack was a blend of styles and genres, echoing variety in the collection on show, which had no fixed silhouette but unifying characteristics, such as the use of tailoring.
