Parke Lutter and Ronen Jehezkel of Parke & Ronen celebrate 20 years with their Spring 2018 collection, which goes to show that a chic sensibility with spot on tailoring and sexy swimwear is the key to their success. For Spring 2018, the designers drew inspiration from the lyrics of John Denver’s “Rocky Mountain High.” Highlighting the care-free, easy moments spent outdoors, and nostalgia for youth, their “Mountain High” collection interprets a laid back, relaxed attitude.
“We are finally seeing guys get out of that skinny silhouette and into a more relaxed state of mind.” New swimsuit styles appeared more relaxed and were mixed with archived styles. “Specifically, we brought back a great relaxed trouser from our 1998 collection that works really well with what we were trying to communicate this season,” added Lutter.
Playful colors, patterns and silhouettes are juxtaposed with masculine leather backpacks and crossbody bags, with sunglasses by Johnny Fly Co., and hippie jewelry from byThiel. “We’ve done beaches and pools, now it’s off to the lake,” said Lutter. There were effortless lightweight jackets, airy mesh tank tops, breezy drawstring linen pants, microscopic cotton twill shorts, lightweight chambray shirts, knit tops and graphic tees, with the occasional bucket hat to top it all off. One of our favorites is the mint double-face linen trouser and lamb suede camp shorts.
Short Motivation
“Everything from tiny bikinis to the two-, three-, four- and even five-inch trunks in a variety of prints and patterns turned heads. ‘For me, to be able to go back into our archives and realize that everything still looks great is my favorite thing,’ said Jehezkel.” -WWD
