Alexander McQueen Spring 2013: No one can wear it, like a McQueen man can!

Inspired by the film “Death in Venice” and the novel “The Picture of Dorian Gray,” Sarah Burton created her own abstract melding of these two iconic classics. Vain men is the subject Burton had in mind when she concocted her extravagantly tailored suits and jackets with such exceptional attention to detail, each look was more intriguing than the last.

Working with a palette of soft peach, white, grey, blue and metallic bronze and gold, Burton honed in on bespoke details such as color blocked lapels and hand finished embroidery. Checkered and or printed suits with dragonflies were the most wildly theatrical looks in the collection. No one else, but McQueen can pull off a hand-embroidered metal thread suit or metallic silk jacquard dragonflies and make them look respectable.
