Spring is the perfect time to play with proportions and update the immensely popular chart topping athleisure silhouette that is all the rage in men’s wear right now. The oversized trend first emerged a few seasons ago in the form of baggy, athletic louche trousers at Prada. The deconstructed fit has been immensely popular in London where it has further evolved into a new crop of roomier oversized tees and longer jackets favored by JW Anderson. The new tailored boxy and oversized shorts pair wonderfully with an oversized T-shirt or elongated shirting. The oversized silhouettes can be worn ultra tailored and natty neat or disheveled and deconstructed.

Elegant longer length shirts and jackets were seen layered in a variety of ways at McQueen, many creating the illusion of a tunic or mini-dress. The contrasting dimension of a tighter upper body silhouette strikes a perfect balance over baggy trousers or vice versa with an oversized top worn over skinny pants. Paul Smith went with roomy, wide, swinging trousers for spring/summer 2015.

However, the best way to rock this new trend for summer hands down is pairing an oversized top with another major trend: Bermuda shorts. Designers who went big this season embracing the look for spring include Casely-Hayford, James Long, and Xander-Zhou.
