John Elliott Luxe Spin on Sporty Essentials

John Elliott is poised to become a household name with his brand of luxe sporty essentials. Making him one of the most exciting menswear designers in fashion today. In a short span of just two years, Elliott’s star has risen with his burgeoning namesake label that speaks to how young urban men want to dress right now. Elliott approaches every collection with a staple of versatile layers as his starting point ranging from joggers to woven jerseys and quilted outerwear. His spin on sport influenced styles embraces shorts over leggings and military inspired pieces with a contemporary casual spin.

For his third New York Mens fashion week outing Elliott served up an array of reversed shearling outerwear over shorts, slim cut trousers and short-sleeve puffer jackets. “We always do a layered look, and I really wanted to try to have base layers rooted in stuff like sashiko stitching—taking a heritage detail from Japan and incorporating that in a tonal story on jersey,” he says. He opened with his monochromatic take on athleisure in shades of grey in slim-fitting separates before taking a darker turn into deeper tonal shades of gunmetal, tobacco and inky shades of blue and black.  Handsome leather hooded pullovers and bombers are juxtaposed with motorcross jeans or wide shorts and layered with oversized knitwear and leather treated denim pieces. Elliott also utilized sashiko stitching in a paneled oversized hoodie and a pocketed parachute jacket with sashiko details on the nylon straps. The fall collection also saw the debut of John Elliott footwear, which completed every look. One of the standout shoes was Elliott’s combat boot with futuristic speed hooks and grooves on the top, meant to either fold down or wear laced up. His gift for adding a luxe spin to sporty essential has catapulted him to the top.  The fall/winter 2016 collection is available on http://www.johnelliott.co/ beginning July 25, 2016.
