Gucci Fall 2013: Gucci’s Dangerous Femme Fatale

A dangerous femme fatale is what you get when you mix python and patent leather with ultra sexy silhouettes. Say hello to Gucci’s Fall 2013 collection – a collection that the pregnant designer, Frida Giannini, describes as “the perfection of couture techniques applied to ready-to-wear.” Each of her models were almost completely covered in tight body-con silhouettes, the sex appeal was expressed through Giannini’s extravagant use of exotic leathers in couture-inspired neck-to-knee body hugging dresses and show-stopping accessories.;

Shiny black python, snakeskin and leather were everywhere in oversized coats, featuring either peaked or rounded caban shoulders accented with sleek front panels of python and accessorized with, yes you guessed it, more python. These accessories, infact, are sure to feed any fashionista’s S & M fetish fantasy. From the sexy knee high stilettos, to elbow length glove and patent oxford booties all inspired by the provocative sculptures of late British pop artist, Allen Jones. Jones became famous in London during the late 60s for his erotic human furniture, kinky sculptures and imagery of rubber fetish wear.

For evening, Giannini sent out an array of colorful feathered frocks. These long gowns were reminiscent of Gatsby’s lavish party dresses complete with gold and copper beading and shocks of colorful riviera blue and fuchsia feathers, along with almost every color under the rainbow. Giannini strategically placed feathers on sheer tulle bodices that cascaded into slinky skirts and gowns that partially revealed the legs as the models walked.

Giannini summed it up best in the show notes: “The Gucci woman seduces with her dangerous femininity. She is steely yet sexy – defining her discipline with femme fatale vices.” Now that’s a set of fashion rules to live by.
