Greg Lauren Fall 2016 Mens: Archetypes of Masculinity
At Greg Lauren’s Fall 2016 menswear presentation he examines the archetypes of masculinity and the art of manliness. “I’m obsessed with trying to understand where the classic male archetypes fit in in the world,” Greg Lauren said. While most designers are going for a posh look that can be mass produced Lauren is going in the complete opposite direction. His genuine love of authentic fabrics and deconstruction sets him apart from the crowd. This elevates Lauren’s garment to one-of-a-kind status. According to the designer, every one of his garments are made one at a time in a small studio in Los Angeles. Nothing is factory-made with the exception of a few knitted pieces which are handcrafted outside his studio.
For his Fall Winter 2016 presentation Lauren embarked on a series of vignettes featuring dandies, gangs, shoeshine boys, boxers, and other rugged denizens that inhabit the world of boxing. “We’re living in a time where everybody’s fighting for something,” Lauren explained.
