Giorgio Armani’s Fall 2013 collection featured a strong connection to menswear with sharp tailoring and clean lines juxtaposed by rich embellishments on luscious fabrics like velvet, fur and silk. Inspired by the 1930s film, “La Garçonne” that centered around an independent French heroine whose sense of liberation and rebellion were reflected in her borrowed from the boys wardrobe.

Models decked-out in cropped high-waisted fluid pants and streamlined jackets fastened with large gum-ball size buttons sported pointed-toe oxfords or block-heel loafers, and cloche hats.

Giorgio Armani’s androgynous theme continued with his iconic suits consisting of an hourglass silhouette with accentuated shoulders, belted at the waist, and paired with a pencil skirt or wide-legged trousers. A silver brocade jacket with patent leather details at the collar and placket was paired with cropped black trousers and worn with a wide suede belt. His color palette was tightly controlled for effect and featured mainly black, gray and white with shots of lavender, and icy blue.

Among the highlights were a sexy pair of charcoal gray wide-legged trousers worn with a cropped white structured bra and topped-off with a curvy, sleeveless bolero. A perfect alternative to the traditional suit.

For evening Giorgio Armani offered relaxed, yet sophisticated looks that radiated sensuality. Hence, a silver sequined jumpsuit with a twisted neckline was accessorized with black fingerless smoking gloves. Equally striking was an elegant long black velvet skirt worn with a silver beaded fringed vest.
