Silvia Venturini Fendi took airport style to new heights at Fendi’s fall 2018 men’s show in Milan. The designer set the stage with a real-life luggage carousel featuring Fendi’s finest luggage and travel wear for the modern flier, including a double-F, fur-clad Fendi baby carrier.

Fendi’s frequent flyers donned retro suits and flight jackets, aviator sunglasses and an abundance of cross-body bags. The luxurious outerwear made it’s provenance as clear as any luggage tag with diagonally striped intarsia shearlings, fur blousons, and transparent rain coats, all rendered Fendi Fabulous. Examples include a laminated-sheen beige-on-cream car coat and long fur coats with thick stripes recalling Fendi’s black-and-brown Pequin pattern with a new, boxier double-F logo. A few of the models pushed aluminum four-wheelers by luggage specialist Rimowa, while one model pushed a luggage trolley heaped with three.

Every piece in the collection was extraordinary, offering two-in-one, reversible sides to cut down on the packing of course. The Fendi logo appeared on shearling-edged, diagonally quilted technical outerwear and a whole host of accessories including a hands free, head-strap-able mini umbrella that was among the most talked about accessories in the show. For the third season in a row, Fendi collaborated with an artist: This season it was Glaswegian artist “Hey Reilly,” who Venturini Fendi first discovered on Instagram after he posted a mashup logo of Fendi and Fila. “I thought, Uh oh, I’m going to get sued!” Reilly reported. Instead here he was backstage in a raffia-fringed Fendi parka watching his capsule collection of T-shirts and collage-print pieces traveling down the runway.
